My big seller, Mystery of
the Attic (based on something very scary that happened to me when I
was 13) is being designed into an amusement park ride of my own
creation. |
On Forbidden Ground,
the sequel. |
Wound Too Tight, my
only book so far with boys as main characters. |
And, the first 4 books in the
Kim & Kelly Mystery Series; Fantasies Are Murder is being
made into a play by The Arena Players Theater Group to open Oct 28th. |
Image in the Tapestry is an award winner in the 2005 CNW/FFWA Writing Competition, Fiction Novel Chapter (book 4 in the Kim & Kelly series). |
The Kim & Kelly Mystery Series is
different from anything any other children’s author has done:
I use ethnic characters. |
My books do not promote any
violence or bad language. |
I’ve successfully brought
back the wholesome, old fashioned storytelling style as that of the
Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys books, mixed with my flair of Agatha. Christie and
Sherlock Holmes. |
I write in first person and
have 2 main characters, instead of just 1, therefore mixing up who will
be telling the story from book to book. Kids are really liking this
concept and I find lots of kids buy 1 book told by Kim and 1 book told
by Kelly at the same time because they like getting into the girl’s
personalities more in depth. |
There is only 1 adult that is
‘allowed’ to help solve the mysteries and crimes with Kim & Kelly; the
ending of Trade Secret will give the reader an idea how his series will
begin. |
I’ve become my own publisher,
GumShoe Press, just so I could take these books away from the previous
publisher and have them marketed, sold, and priced properly, as well as
making sure schools, libraries, and independent bookstores can purchase
them and get a fairly large discount than if they bought these books
through Ingram. I also offer them as returnable both as GumShoe Press
and through Ingram. |
Aside from all this; I write for tweens and this has become an extremely popular category; bookstores are on the hunt for books for tweens and here they are. |
