Melody Ravert
Author of Silent Angel, Shadow of
Death and Avenging Sword
After the first three years of
marriage, my husband Tim and I decided it was time to raise a family. Little did
we know we would experience two long years of infertility and hear numerous
comments from others: "You are trying too hard" and "maybe it's not God's will."
One lady told me, in jest, I needed to go out to a cornfield and do a dance. We
did what most couples would do, see our doctor and begin infertility testing.
I
remember begging and pleading with God for a child, a girl to be exact. We did
what our doctor suggested and agreed to the many tests he offered. Finally,
after three months of taking a prescription for infertility, I became pregnant.
We did have a baby girl! A precious
gift from above. It wasn't until a few years later that we soon realized she was
our special angel. She had autism and was non-verbal. Having a strong faith in
God and devoted to each other, Tim and I held on to one another as we searched
for ways to help our daughter.
Being
in an autistic outreach program provided by special education since age three,
Stephanie has grown into a mature and intelligent young lady. "She's still not
talking, but miracles do happen. She's come a long way and is a very loving and
happy girl."
In Silent Angel the authors share
their joys and challenges in raising a child with special needs and share ways
of keeping the marriage relationship alive in the process. Friends and family
also share their insights and comments in relating to Stephanie.
"Through our sharing, we hope to
encourage others to put their trust in the Lord. God is faithful to carry us out
of any storm that may come our way. In His grace, He allows us to take one day
at a time and gives us the wisdom and strength to stand in the midst of the
turmoil and strife, as we wholly and completely lean on Him."
