Author, The Passion In My Soul
My life has been a real journey of
trials and testimonies. This book of poetry and short story is my way of sharing
with the world some of life’s lessons I have learned along the way.
God has blessed me with many gifts;
my gift back to Him is what I choose to do with them. I hope my words will bring
comfort to those who read them. Some of them may be hard to swallow, but they
are a peek into the window of my soul. Life is not always pretty, but I thank
God for His brand-new mercies I see every morning.
I thank God for my trials and my
victories; they have made me the woman I am today. Sometimes we try to avoid the
test, but it is what gives us our testimony. There are some things you just
can’t get around, that you must go through. It helps to know that when I am
faced with trials I can count on God to usher me to the other side. Then and
only then, am I able to give Him the glory.
The
whole time I was writing this book I was very hesitant about it being published.
Poetry, and writing in general, reveals so much about the person writing it.
Whether you know it or not, you are putting your soul on paper. I had to think
about how much of myself I was willing to share with my readers. I knew I would
be exposing myself, and I would be opening the door for judgment and criticism.
I decided not to worry about such things, as the only one I stand in judgment
before is Christ.
My life is not about me; it is about
Him. I found comfort in knowing my words might be healing for others who may
have traveled a road similar to mine. They may also help someone avoid many of
the mistakes I’ve made. God gets all of the glory for the many obstacles I’ve
overcome, and challenges I’ve faced only to still be standing. Because of His
grace and mercy, I still stand, and I am eternally grateful. I knew the Lord had
me completing this project for a reason. I didn’t have to understand what that
reason was; I just had to be obedient. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall
renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run
and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 That
particular scripture has helped me through my journey.
When we are faced with trials, we
must always have a scripture to carry us through, one we can stand on until the
trials pass— and they will pass
