The Tidal Wave is a monthly business
newsmagazine circulated throughout the Washington/Baltimore area.
The Tidal Wave is our effort to impact primarily, but not exclusively, the
African-American community, and it's consumers. We use creativity and innovation
to educate and encourage African-American consumers to buy products and/ or
services from African-American businesses. However, it is easier said, than
done.
Our goal is not to discourage buying outside our community. American society is
great because of it's choices, and diversity.
But, the African American consumer needs to be informed about the benefits of
providing you more support. It is unrealistic to think African American
businesses can service all the needs of our population in this country. But,
attempting to reduce the distrust which exists, concerning African-American
products and services, is important for our survival.

In 1983, following an exciting career in television, Tidal Wave publisher Gail
Williams began her career as a Radio Broadcast Technician at the Voice of
America, where she was employed until 1994. Upon resigning, she soon decided to
put more emphasis on her journalism skills developed as a student majoring in
Mass Media Arts at Hampton University, and turn her freelance experiences into a
new career in print journalism. Some of the publications she has written for
help advance include: The (now defunct) Capitol Spotlight in Washington, D.C.,
the Washington Informer newspaper, the Washington Times newspaper, The Silver
Spring and Burtonsville Gazette newspapers, and the Eagle News newspaper, and
Washington View magazine in Takoma Park, MD.
Ms. Williams later went into business with then partner Morrow Coates, where the
two formulated a marketing group called Kinetic Wave LLC. The purpose of Kinetic
Wave LLC soon transformed from a marketing group, into a publishing company,
which currently publishes The Tidal Wave. As Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Ms.
